Ferrari 458 Spider

Ferrari 458 Spider

Straight up I have to say this, what an outstanding feat of engineering! You will see why I say that first thing in a minute but first let me tell you a little about the history of the cars.

The Beginning

In 2009 Ferrari announced they would be creating another marvellous car which would be a spider version of their new models, part of the 548 Italia series and was announced by Ferrari boss himself, Luca di Montezemolo. I mean who else to release the news about this amazing car?

The car was scheduled to make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show but leaked photos and information meant we already knew what was coming but, never the less the excitement and anticipation was still the same and the cars unveiling was a huge success.

Tell Me More!

The cars look and design if the first thing I noticed, it is a thing of beauty and is truly eye catching, I’m sure you’ll agree? With its elegant curves the flow seamlessly along the body of the car and even the LED light above the headlights. The little details really make this car have its own personality and feel. Something you definitely pick up on.

The biggest difference compared to other Ferrari’s is that the Spider has a retractable roof which makes this the perfect car if you are looking for that warm weather breeze in your hair hurtling along down the road. The design of the roof means it folds away nicely meaning it takes up minimal space when collapsed which leaves a bench on the inside behind the driver and passenger seats meaning this is the perfect place to store any luggage you may have.

The engine has a roar and a half, turning the key in the ignition is like waking an elegant lion! The car almost sings to you with the purr from the engine and harmonises when you press the accelerator. Truly music to my ears. The power this thing can generate is huge and it shows that when you drive the car. When you unleash the 570 horsepower it will literally take your breath away. Ferrari fined tuned this engine, including the sound to ensure optimal performance without limiting the experience and feel of the car. A fine balance indeed and they have reached it perfectly.

The Stats

As I just mentioned the Ferrari 458 Spider has a huge 475 horsepower and can reach a top speed of 198 mph. It can also do 0 – 60 in 3.4 seconds, now that’s fast! The car has a 4.5 litre V8 engine married to a 7 speed duel clutch transmission and en electronic differential which just completes everything about this car!

So I hope I have given you an insight into the world of the Ferrari 458 Spider and the awesome power and potential this car has! If you are ever given the chance to see this car or even ride in it then do not pass it up because you will regret it!

If you are interested in Ferraris why not hire a Ferrari or alternatively hire Ferrari 458 Spider?

The Lamborghini Aventador

Lamborghini Aventador

Well this car has to be a personal favourite of mine, not just because it looks good but because of everything it does and stand for. Revealed in 2011 Lamborghini really went all out on this car and I think the car shows that considerably well. The Lamborghini Aventador is a two door sports car that was publically reviled with the press waiting.

The Name

Well this is pretty simple and you may think it’s boring but there is a story behind the name. The name Aventador is from a bull. Lamborghini have their own tradition to name all of their cars after a bull, madness right? Well I think it is but I guess it’s only a name so it’s not that important. The Aventador was a bull who fought particularly violently and aggressively in Spain in 1993 and was remembered for his courageous fighting which is mentioned in promotional materials from Lamborghini. Weather the story is 100% true or there is a slight variation I do not know but the car is still fantastic.

Looks and Design

The looks of this car are fantastic and is really eye catching. It has to be definitely one of the strong points and a potential selling point if you want to go that far with it. I personally would never buy a car just of looks, I don’t think anyone would? The car has a nice simplistic design with smooth following curves which just look outstanding. Looks are all good and well but they are pointless if the rest of the car doesn’t match this quality, which brings me nicely to my next point!

The Engine

Wow is the only way I could describe the engine. Putting you foot on the accelerator just brings a common phrase to my mind “Unleash the beast within” and that thing really does unleash all its power. With a top speed of 230mph and a 0 – 60mph time of 2.9 seconds! The engine roars with beauty and can go a ¼ mile in just 10.6 seconds!  The Aventador’s heart is Lamborghini’s very own v12 engine which is the second kind of v12 engine from the company and if I am honest its performance is outstanding and has been noticed worldwide.

Criticism

Every good side has a bad side and even with cars like this there are some bad points that have been picked out during reviews. The main problem being the Aventador’s unrefined single disc clutch being the main area of criticism.

Most being strong points some reviews have even said “This is the best Lamborghini ever made” and another said “the friendliest v12 supercar in the world”. Everything said is very strong for the Lamborghini Aventador, apart from that pesky unrefined single disk clutch.
